Word Intensity
Today we chose a word from a list of words, I chose the word happy. Next we had to find synonyms of the word happy. Once we found at least 8 we put them in order of intensity. After that we found a picture to put as the background and then we put our words in intensity order on our image. This is what mine looks like.

Change makers Project - SPCA Cookie Day
Since the start of term 3 we have been learning about changer makers. Once we learnt about change makers, we got into groups and we started our own project. In my group we sold cookies to get money to go to the SPCA. So we held our own cookie day and sold cookies. I was in a group with Aleaha, Nina, Renee, and Daniella. This is a slide me and Aleaha made.

Olympic Writing
The last couple of weeks we had chosen a olympic sport to research about. Once we had our sport and we had researched about it we had to make pick three questions and write some information about it. This is my one i did mine about Artistic Gymnastics.
Artistic Gymnastics
Introduction
Ever since the first olympics in 1896 April the 6th, countries from all over the world come and compete in the Olympics, but this year it is the Rio Olympics, the Olympics is every 4 years. In artistic gymnastics they are known to compete on the Floor, Beam, Bar, Vault and the Rings. When a gymnast wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd they will get a medal it will be either Gold, Silver or Bronze. For a gymnast to be fit they have to eat lots of healthy foods and do a lot of training, training like a jackknife-sit-ups.
Question 1 what is the history behind artistic gymnastics?
Do you know the history behind Artistic Gymnastics?
Did you know that the ancient greeks believed that gymnastics to be the perfect symmetry between mind and the body. Once gymnastics started lots of schools and athletic clubs started doing artistic gymnastics. Artistic Gymnastics involves 5 different things, Floor, Vault, Beam, Bar, and Rings. The Floor is when they have a dance routine and they also do amazing tricks like flips while they are dancing and, they also do things on the floor, but they don't just dance alone also do things with balls, hops, ribbons, and Battern. The Vault is when they run up jump and bounce of a spring board and push off of a vault and do flips and land. The Beam is when then walk across a beam and do cool tricks and jumps and hand stands. The Bar is when then swing around hope from one bar to another. The Rings are when you try and keep yourself up and do cool flips and tricks.
Question 2 what do the artistic gymnasts get?
Have you been wondering what the gymnasts get when they compete in the Olympics?
If a gymnast competes in the Olympics and impresses the judges in all the rounds that gymnast could come First, Second, or Third, and then that gymnast will ether get a Gold Medal, Silver Medal, or Bronze Medal, and sometime they get a little gift too if they come, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. But if they don’t come top 3 you are probably thinking they will get nothing, but every olympian will atleast get $200 - $2,000 dollars each. You also get health insurance.
Question 3what is involved in the training for the artistic gymnasts?
There are some really challenging and interesting training in artistic gymnastics which is why I am going to tell you all about it.
To train for artistic gymnastics you have to do lots of difficult training technique and exercises and one of the most common exercise is the jackknife-sit-up. Fitness involves techniques, techniques comes easier when you have more strength, power, and flexibility.

Last week for art Mrs G came in and put togetr some puzzle pices that we had to colour in. Once we were given a piece of paper with a bit of a letter on it we had to color it in. We had to colour the part of the letter and trace a pattern with a black felt pen. Once we finished we put them all up on the wall to figure out what the hidden message was. We found out that the secret message is "Ruma Iwa"

In class we have been learning about the olympics. So we made some of the countries flags that are competing in the olympics. I picked the USA. What we did was we got a piece of paper and we had to draw what flag we were doing, (mine was not easy i had to draw 50 stars) then once we drew it we had to paint it. The painting was really fun.
This is my flag

Writing
Today we were writing about a picture that we took of the sun rising at the school. We had to write about this photo. We had to include somthing to do with See, Feel, and Think.
Walking into the air, I see a beautiful pinky purple glow in the sky. It is the most nicest sunrise I have ever seen. The trees look so magnificent in the sky, the trees maybe green and brown, but in the morning they are as graceful as a sunset. There are not many people around so it is very quiet you could even hear a leaf fall onto the ground.

Speech
Here is my Speech
Emotions
There are lots of emotions like sad, happy, angry, scared, in love, and just being disgusted.
Today I am going to talk to you about the wonderful world of emotions. There are soooo many emotions so I am going to list them all, I mean not them all just some of them. So what do you know about emotions, do you know a lot or just a little bit, if you know a little bit you are going to find out more, if you know a lot well you are going to know some more facts.
Which one should we talk about first, how about happiness. 😀
Happiness is my favorite emotion of them all, because
It is fun , joyful and everything you like. Anything can make you happy, it could be something small like getting a chocolate bar, or it could be something big like going to Disneyland, those are things that could make you happy. Did you know that happiness is good for our health. Happy people are less likely to get sick, and they live longer, happy people have more friends, and are more creative. Did you know that LAUGHTER IS CONTAGIOUS, we catch emotions from each other which is weird so if you are feeling happy and you are around someone they could get that happiness and then they will be happy to. Did you know that forcing a smile can make you happy. People can detect a smiling face from 300 feet away. Even blind people can sense when someone is smiling close by.
It’s time to talk about ANGER!😠
Anger is probably the most dangerous one because if it gets out of hand things can go wrong. Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems, problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. Did you know that uncontrolled anger and angry outbursts are linked to stroke and heart attack. Anger can make you sick. Babies can recognize anger. A kid that is about 7 months can tell the difference between a happy face and a angry face.
Now the last one I am going to talk to you about is , sadness!
Sometimes when you feel alone you can feel a little bit sad. It can make you feel like you want to cry. Sometimes you get nauseous and you could start to feel sick. Feeling sad is one of the worst feelings. Sadness can sometimes be caused by anger, anger usually follows into sadness. Sadness is usually caused when something or someone makes you feel upset or uncomfortable. You can get stuffy when you cry because tears enter your nasal cavity through small eyelid holes. Woman cry more than men.
Here are some facts about emotions you might not have known.
Did you know that we don't just have emotions animals have them to, so the animal can be happy, sad, or angry.
Emotions might help protect the future. Did you know that not just laughter is contagious all emotions are contagious. Hering laughter gets the brain get you ready to laugh back. Fear can make you stronger. People can smell fear.
Thank you for listing.

Introduction
The urinary tract system is made up of the bladder, kidneys, ureters and urethra. It is an important process that filters blood via the kidneys to remove wastes and produce urine. The colour of your urine, can tell you if everything is normal and healthy. The lighter shade of yellow the more hydrated you are. Urine is mostly water, however it is also made up of things you have eaten, drank, breathed or been exposed to.
Question 1
Do you know why the urinary system is important well, you can find out now!
Did you know that if you do not get your urine out then you will get very sick. Urine is one of the waste removal systems so it will remove all your waste from your body so then you can get all of your urine out and you won't get sick. It also filters and wastes extra fluids from the bloodstream. It is an important process that filters blood via the kidneys to remove wastes and produce urine.
Question 2
Have you ever wondered what is in your urine well, you're just in luck.
Urine is made out of 95% water which is a lot of water from your body. Also in your urine there is stuff like chemicals and salt. The chemicals in your urine is also called urea, urea is a colourless crystalline compound which is the main nitrogenous breakdown product of protein metabolism in mammals and is excreted in urine. Also in your urine is stuff that you have, eaten, drank, breathed or been exposed to.
Question 3
Have you ever wonder why your urine is yellow well read this and you will know why.
The colour of your urine, can tell you if everything is normal and healthy. If you are healthy and hydrated then your urine will be a lighter shade of yellow if you are not hydrated then your urine will be a darker shade of yellow ( more a yellowy - brown colour). If you eat something with blue food dyes in it then your urine would go blue. Or it could be a medical problem ( if that happens you would need to call the doctor ).
Conclusion
We have learnt so much things about the urinary system so here are some interesting facts.
Yellow urine = healthy.
Darker yellow urine = dehydrated
The kidneys are the size of your fists.
The urethra is 20 - 25 cm.
The body take nutrients from your food and converts them into energy.
Urine does not help a jellyfish sting.
Urien is created by your kidneys.

My Soldiers Tale
Remember This, Don't Forget It
Look at us all, exhausted and hurt, coughing around non-stop.
Our muddy bodies, we feel like doing is, crying and sleeping, we are not able to move or anything.
Pulling myself out to safety, not stopping any of the way.
I see the trench over there I hear my tummy rumbling, I keep going while I fight the pain.
Im sitting here watching all the men.
They all look exhausted and can hardly move.
We all have cuts and bruises all over our bodies and our boots have gone missing.
By looking at everyone's faces I know what they want to do.
“Gas, gas, poisonous gas, put your gas mask on now, there is gas all around here!”
We all put our gas masks on, we hear a noise, it sounds like someone is calling for help.
He is choking and coughing, and falling to the ground.
But when we went to help it looks like we are too late, he has already gone.
Where has everyone gone, all I can see is smoky clouds of poisonous gas.
I can here my friends but I just can't see them, I can see a little but I can't see a lot.
I still can't see through these smokey gas clouds, I hear conrad trying to get air.
I reach out to help him but I can't, we hear him gurgling, choking, coughing, then it went silent.
This is the worst thing ever to be doing.
It is not nice, he is wriggling around, vomit or something is coming out of his mouth.
There is blood coming out in all different places, this is not nice at all.
Please say I don't need to see this ever again.
Yuck, me and my group are pulling this wagon with dead men in it.
They all look disgusting their pale skin and all the blood in their mouth, ewwe.
He just spat blood on one of my group mates, It was not disgusting.
Would you like to do this.
At war it is not nice ,not at all, the bleeding, mud, rats, everything you don’t like.
People are crying and missing their families, at night that's all they do cry.
At least 300 people die a day, and it is not nice to see all the blood coming, it is so upsetting.
Do you still say that it is glorious to die for your country, well it is really not.

Porotiti
For Kotahitanga Week we made some Porotiti.
A Porotiti is a maori instrument.
Theses are the instructions:
here is my one:
Keep or Change the flag
These are my reasons to Keep or Change the NZ flag:
Introduction:
This year between the 3rd - 24th March New Zealand will be having a referendum ( which is where everyone in that country votes ) about changing or keeping the flag. If you want to vote you have to be 18 and over. We have already had the first vote now it is the second vote and it is down to two flags the flag we have now with the union jack and the new flag the flag with the silver fern on it. If we change the flag we will not be part of the commonwealth so it is very important decision to make.
History:
History is the key to keeping us together. The NZ flag was adopted in 1902. The flag we have now is the third flag we have had. The four stars on the flag represent the Southern Cross. This flag we have now was took to war with all of the soldiers and hundreds died under this flag. We have won the rugby world cup three times with flag. Even if we do change the flag we will start a new history with it.
Keep:
Take a chance and keep the NZ flag. Instead of changing the flag we could use all of the money on something more important like giving some to charity or fundraising schools or more important things. We took the flag to war how special is that we don't want to take that away from us. And lots of soldiers died under the flag how sad is that and if we change the flag that will be all gone. The flag has been in our country for generations why change it now. Please say yes and keep the flag!
Change:
Change the flag because we care. We should change the flag because it is getting too old and we need a change. The flag is too similar to Australia's flag. The new flag is more NZ not britain. It would look better on uniforms. It is more NZ because it has the Silver Fern. We need a change because we need to we have had that flag for too long we need to change it is about to time we change the flag and have a new one.
Conclusion:
I think we should change the flag we have had the old flag for too long it is about time NZ express them self and change the flag with a bit more NZ on it!
